Make a difference in someone else's life by being a mentor.
You Will Need
* Volunteer opportunities
* Time
Step 1: Check for opportunity
Look for volunteer opportunities online and in your community, and choose one that's right for you. For example, if you volunteer at a school, you can help teach students the importance of education.
Step 2: Mentor a co-worker
Mentor a co-worker by helping them set career goals. Teach them how to improve their performance at work. Be available when they need guidance and support.
Be a role model by maintaining a positive attitude.
Step 3: Mentor a friend, family member, or neighbor
Mentor someone already close to you such as a child who lives in your neighborhood, a relative, or an acquaintance. Offer to help rather than waiting for them to ask.
Giving support, being a friend, and listening are a few traits of a good mentor.
Step 4: Take time
Take the time to get to know your mentee. Take an interest in what is important to them.
Kids who attend schools that teach self-discipline and motivation are less likely to commit crimes and more likely to finish high school.
